Time To Clean The House?

It is safe to say that the Christmas period is well and truly over and with all of those January bills finally paid off (hopefully) it is time to spend some money on the home getting all those new kitchen accessories in place and making the place look nice and clean for the Spring.

In fact I have the pleasure of conducting my first and only spring clean this year on my bedroom this weekend. Because of fact I am always working I rarely get time to tidy it so this weekend I thought I would book a slot in my busy schedule to simply clean the place up.

Along with this I am going to be looking into a lot of other products for my home from tableware to other home furnishings that really need to be updated. Although it is not going to be the most exciting of weekends it has to be done at some point.

So now that Spring has arrived make sure you take a long, hard look at the home to see if it is need of a good old fashioned Spring Clean.

Garden Birds Cannot Find Food

It would seem that this year has been a very dry September which means that many garden birds are finding it very difficult to find the food they are usually able to get hold of.

Basically because of the fact that the earth is very dry worms and other grubs are just choosing to stay under the ground than come up and enjoy the sunshine. If they did this then they would certainly dry up and although some of them may be stupid enough to fall for the birds tricks, they are not stupid enough to poke out into the sunshine.

If you are fond of seeing these birds in your garden then the main thing to do is make sure you put out a feeder and a bit of fruit for the animals to have a go at. This will go a long way in making sure the animals can survive the winter and go on to have chicks in the spring/summer.

There are of course other things that you can do to help them:

Putting out a water feature will help the birds and other creatures as it supplies them fresh water. Log piles may not sound useful for the birds but it will attract insects, mosses and fungi to the garden which of course the birds will then be able to feed upon. Of course you could actually buy an insect home, when they come out in the spring the birds will have a small feast.

Planting various plants that provide berries to the birds is also another way to help them out. This can provide berries in the winter for the adults and then insects for the young in the spring.

Of course as a final point you could actually buy a few nest boxes to give them a warm place to stay if they need too. Just make sure you leave regular food and water and the birds in your area should be fine!
