Choose White Tableware for Style and Versatility
Posted: Aug 15, 2008 | Category: TablewareSetting an attractive and stylish dinner table is an art. Dinner guests will doubtless be impressed by your beautifully laundered table linen, your glistening crystal glassware, your blemish free cutlery and, importantly, your choice of crockery and tableware.
When choosing a new dinner service or set of tableware my advice is to go for plain white porcelain. Decorated and patterned plates and dishes can be a lot of fun, but if you are after style, plain white is always your best option.
White porcelain tableware will work with any interior décor. It always looks stylish and sophisticated against any table cloth or place mat and will last for years. If you break a plate or a dish it is easy to get just a single replacement.
Some will say that plain white is boring. But I say that plain white plates and bowls provide the ideal canvas for the food being served. The visual presentation of a meal is almost as important as what the food tastes like and a plain white plate provides the optimum presentation. Take a look around at a few high quality restaurants and the tableware that they use. Plain white, sometimes over-sized plates and dishes are very much favoured by many of the worlds top chefs.
Here are a few examples of white porcelain tableware that would grace any dining table:

There’s definitely something to be said for clean, white tableware - it’s definitely a fashion that has been brought about by the rise of TV shows like Masterchef and Gordon Ramsay, who promote good looking, beautiful food presented simply on a large white dish.
