The Art of Plating Up

Posted: Oct 21, 2008 | Category: Tableware

Good food presentation makes an enormous contribution to the enjoyment of a meal. A well presented plate of food conveys the message that time and effort was spent in creating this plate of food and you will enjoy it. The choice of tableware is, of course, very important.

Many of the world’s finest restaurants use nothing but plain white porcelain tableware as this doesn’t distract the eye from the food presented. It forms an ideal background for the food which is framed by the plate and allowed to stand out prominently.

The following video demonstrates the attention paid to the art of plating up in a restaurant.

I’ve always admired the way in which good quality restaurants present their food. It can make so much difference even to the most basic of meals. A lesson that my husband would do well to learn.
